Hijama

Hijama, also known as cupping therapy, is an ancient form of alternative medicine where a therapist places special cups on the skin to create suction. The practice has roots in traditional Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures and has been used for thousands of years to treat a variety of ailments.

How Hijama Works

Cupping Technique:The process typically involves placing cups on the skin and creating a vacuum either by heat (fire cupping) or by using a mechanical pump. The suction causes the skin to rise and redden as blood vessels expand.

Wet Cupping:This involves making a small incision in the skin before the cup is applied, allowing for a small amount of blood to be drawn out during the session. This is thought to remove "stagnant" blood and toxins.

Dry Cupping:This involves only the suction part without bloodletting.

Benefits of Hijama
  • Pain Relief: Commonly used to relieve muscle pain and tension.
  • Improved Circulation: Believed to improve blood flow and reduce inflammation.
  • Detoxification: Practitioners claim it helps remove toxins from the body.
  • Relaxation: Some use cupping for stress relief and relaxation.
